My interest in photography started at a young age when my parents let me use an old digital camera to take photos. Soon after that, they gave me a book on photography. Ever since then, I have loved taking pictures, and that love has only been pushed onward with my parent's encouragement. They went as far as to print out and frame some of my 10-year-old self's pictures of moss and mushrooms, so a big shout-out to them for all the encouragement they have given me over the years. 
      In high school, I would set up a tripod and try to get cool pictures of myself and my friends with my phone. One of my friends' moms saw the pictures and told me I had a good eye and should start a business to make some extra money. She had run a fairly successful photography business on the side years before, so I took it as a big compliment.
     When I graduated from high school, I decided to use my graduation money to buy a camera and some lenses and start my business. I started by just taking pictures of friends, and I really had no idea how to get clients. That all changed later that same summer. I was volunteering at a kids' camp for church, and one of the older guys I was leading with told me that he was a full-time professional photographer and videographer. I asked him how he became successful. His answer: reach out to people.
     The next few weeks, I researched who would even want photos. I wanted to be able to do creative photography and not just basic family photos or something, so small musicians seemed like the perfect fit. Since then, I have reached out to around 25 musicians a week to advertise myself, and I have gotten to work with tons of awesome people.
